Techno India Group is hosting the second edition of the inter-school sports competition Techno Olympica Knights which started on 27th January and will go on till 31st January. This mega sporting event is featuring over 600 students from 43 schools across West Bengal. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Bula Choudhury, former India national women's swimming champion, Chess Grand Master Dibyendu Barua & Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group.
The event started with a lamp-lighting ceremony by
the guests. The Techno Olympica Knights Torch Rally was held on the
campus ground, to mark the commencement of the mega sports event. Techno
Olympica Knights was a dream project of Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury started a few years back.
Techno India Group aims at giving equal emphasis on the development of body,
mind, and spirit of the students to fulfill the objective of “Touching lives,
making a difference”. There are awards for the top three schools in terms of the medal tally with trophies and cash prizes. There will also be
prizes for “Best Cheering School” and “Fair Play.”
“The main aim of Techno Olympica Knights is to be
bringing together the best young talents under one roof. It will also act as a
platform for showcasing and popularizing a large number of sporting activities
that rarely get a chance to be highlighted in our city. Inter-school sports in
the city has never been given such a bigger platform than the one that will be
provided in ‘Techno Olympica Knights’,” said Prof. Roychowdhury.
The competition featuring sports like 5-a-Side Football, Volley
Ball, Hockey, Table tennis, Badminton, Long Jump, Discuss throw, Individual
Race/Relay Race, Hurdle Race, Free Style Swimming, Archery and Chess is being
held for Boys, Girls, Junior & Senior sections across multiple
locations like Techno India Salt Lake Campus, Spuddy Badminton Academy, and Sports
Authority of India (SAI) Complex.
