A special calendar ‘Sandesh 110’ was released on the occasion of the popular children's magazine Sandesh’s 110 years at ICCR on January 21. Featuring magazine covers designed by the four generations of the Ray family - Upendra Kishore, Sukumar, Satyajit, and Sandip, the event was initiated and conceptualized by Sudipta Chanda of The Dreamers which itself turned 10.

Released by Sandip Ray, editor, Sandesh, in the presence of  Amitananda Das, publisher, Sandesh, Devajit Bandyopadhyay, archivist, and Debasis Mukhopadhyay, Satyajit Ray specialist and collector, the special guests were Vikash Kumar Singh, director, Genius Kids, and his wife. The event was anchored by Debashis Bose

A discussion on Sandesh and its history revealed the years of struggle to keep ‘Sandesh’ going. Starting in 1913, it stopped publication for 25 years to be revived by Satyajit Ray in 1971.

There are plans to have a digital version of Sandesh to reach out to a wider range of readers, with audiobooks too in the pipeline.
