Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the most esteemed actors of the Indian film industry. The Malayalam superstar has acted in over 100 films, including landmarks like Nandanam (2002), Vaasthavam (2006), Urumi (2011), Mumbai Police (2013), Memories (2013), Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015), Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020), Jana Gana Mana (2022) and many more. He's the winner of a National Film Award, three Kerala State Awards, and several other prestigious awards. Prithviraj is also a successful director (Lucifer, Bro Daddy), producer (Driving Licence, Kuruthi), distributor, and playback singer. Meanwhile, several of his hit films have been remade in other languages, such as the recent Chiranjeevi-starrer GodFather based on Lucifer and the upcoming Selfiee featuring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi based on Driving Licence.
Prithviraj is not only a massive Malayalam star but has also made his mark in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. He made his Bollywood debut opposite Rani Mukerji in the comedy Aiyyaa (2012), where he impressed as a Tamil art student with an intoxicating smell. This was followed by two more power-packed roles - as a tough cop in Aurangzeb (2012) and a deadly arms dealer in Naam Shabana (2017).
Since then, fans
across India have greatly missed Prithviraj's presence in a big Hindi film.
They have been craving for the actor to end his five-year hiatus and return to
Bollywood. His performances in Aiyyaa, Aurangzeb and Naam Shabana are still
widely talked about - proof of the impact they left on Hindi audiences.
Furthermore,
Prithviraj is one of those actors who champions both massy and content-driven
cinema. He is adept at action, comedy, horror, gritty drama, thriller and
romance. He is known for his enthralling screen presence as well as terrific
acting chops. This makes him a perfect fit for a modern Hindi commercial
potboiler.
Recently, South
Indian stars like Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Naga Chaitanya, Prabhas
and Vijay Sethupathi have all made or announced their Bollywood debuts. With
'Pan Indian' films becoming all the rage and setting the box-office on fire, it
will be great to see the OG crossover superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran join the
fray!
Fans will certainly accept nothing less. Here's wishing their prayers are heard soon!
