Crowd management an issue at Tridhara

One of the best Pujas this year, Tridhara is truly eye-catching with its aesthetically pleasing pandal and Durga idol. But at the same time please be aware, it is also one of the worst managed Pujas! The crowd surge is so huge that people are facing a near stampede situation with ladies and children feeling unsafe. Not a single volunteer can be spotted in the 500-metre range from one end of the road to the other.

The huge police deployment is ineffective with them either stopping the crowd to make way for VIP guests or just sitting near the pandal and chatting away.

The club should also be responsible to the people and manage the crowd which was very unruly on Saturday night, otherwise, no matter how good the Durga idol is or the numerous prizes it bags, if security and safety are issues not taken care of properly, the crowds will be reluctant to come.

It’s difficult to fathom that a renowned club like Tridhara which always attracts such huge crowds year after year, failed us pandal-hoppers as far as managing the crowd was concerned. They should take a leaf out of the book of Deshapriya Park Puja which is just 50 metres. It too boasted of a huge footfall, but the efficient way things were managed left us all very impressed. Guess, they pulled up their socks after the stampede which took place in 2015.
