Kolkata Centre for Creativity, a multidisciplinary art space is organizing Children's Theatre Workshop by Santanil Gangully. This workshop will allow children to understand and explore the various facets of puppetry and theatre through fun activities, performances, and sessions. The theatre workshop will be held from 27th to 29th May, 2022, on the 4th floor (lobby) at KCC, from 11 am – 2 pm for children in the age group of 8-12 years.

The workshop would consist of several creative activities like developing stories, preparing appropriate sets and props for creating shadows, and exploring both onstage acting and shadow puppetry. Day 1 will focus on the basic concept of theatre and shadow puppet, different theatre games for learning body movement and expressions of different characters, multi-tasking in theatre, impromptu skit making, and skit performance. Day 2 will focus on a new set of theatre games for learning the basic skill of acting, composition, and character-building, developing a short play for presentation, making puppets for shadow, and understanding the relationship between shadow puppets and the particular play for presentation. On Day 3, children will witness and indulge in some more exciting stuff such as making props, learning to manipulate shadow puppets, and creating music for performance followed by the final presentation of the play which will sum up the workshop.
