Friday evening turned out to be a truly magical one for the select audience at the Tollygunge Club with TA-RA-VA. Presented by the Kolkata Centre For Creativity in association with The Tollygunge Club, TA-RA-VA had renowned tabla exponent Bickram Ghosh enthralling all with his fusion extravaganza on the main lawns of the club accompanied by Indian flautist Rasika Shekhar and electric veena Maestro Rajesh Vaidhya. Satyajit Mukherjee was on the drums with Sayan Ganguly on the keyboard.
TA-RA-VA an acronym for Taal-Raga-Vadya, was a
brainchild of Bickram Ghosh, and a brilliant collaboration among some of
the most formidable artistic talents of the country, creating an
electrifying show of Indian collaborative fusion at its best. Taking the
audience through moments of palpable excitement through the trade-offs and
impromptu jams between the artists, it also created moments of wondrous
soulfulness, a distinct forte of great Indian musicians.
A fascinating percussion jam towards the end of the evening featuring
Ghosh’s famous body-drumming and some unique chemistry between Ghosh and
Satyajit made it an intense and impactful experience for the audience.
“It gave me immense
pleasure and joy to present this enchanting musical evening with the maestro
Bickram Ghosh. It was good
to see that the audiences
are slowly coming back to
enjoy such offline musical concerts after the pandemic. TA-RA-VA showcased the
unique combination of all these multi-faceted performers for the first time and
it was a rare treat for listeners,” said Richa Agarwal, Chairperson, KCC.
