The 4th World Chess Boxing Championship is going to be held in Sicily, Italy from December 6 to 12 under the patronage of the Italian Olympic Committee. The Indian Chess Boxing team is going to take part in this world championship in Italy. The participants are from West Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telangana. Accompanying them will be the head of delegation of the Indian team, Montu Das, founder and president of Chessboxing Organisation of India (CBOI). I V Rao, Dronacharya Awardee in boxing from Andhra Pradesh is going to take a part as an official and Sandhanu Vijiyan from Kerala will be there as a coach.
With a view to empowering women in Chess boxing, 25 members of the Indian
team have nine female chess boxers from Maharashtra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and
Telengana.
Montu Das, as the president of the World Chess Boxing Organisation which
is situated in Berlin, Germany and operating from Kolkata to host this World
Championship in Italy, is very proud that an Indian is leading the team.
