Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur celebrated ‘National Librarians’ Day’ at Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library on August 12 in remembrance of the 129th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Indian Library Science.
At a formal function Prof A K Pani, dean, academics; Fr. Paul Fernandes S J, director, Prof. M. Srimannarayana, associate
dean, corporate programme & VIL, Prof. J Ajith Kumar, associate dean - FPM &
Research; Prof Santanu Gupta,
the faculty and staff members of XLRI and the library staff members were
present on this occasion.
In his inaugural speech, Prof. Ashis K Pani expressed the importance of the library to an
institute, prospects for the betterment of the library and promised all support
from the management to upgrade the library to the next level. He wished the
library team.
D.T. Edwin, head, library, described Dr S R Ranganathan’s life and his contribution
to the Indian Library System. He said that the XLRI library strives to provide
all the possible services instantly while shouldering the institute’s
objectives always. He requested the library team to be skilful and dynamic in
rendering quality service to the user community.
Fr. Paul Fernandes S J, Director wished and blessed all the library team and distributed
the National Librarians’ Day Quiz prizes to the toppers Suman Kumar, Dibiya
Suchita Ekka, and K N Harini.
