At least 136 people have died due to flood and landslide caused due to heavy rain in Maharashtra for the last few days.

Around 44 people have died and 35 injured in separate landslide incidents in Raigad district. More fatalities are expected as rescue efforts continue.

While multiple landslides were also reported from the district of Raigad, Satara, and Ratnagiri, heavy rain has hampered the search and rescue operation.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday announced ex-gratia of 5 lakh each for the kin of those who lost their lives in the landslides.

Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for the next of kin of those who died in Raigad due to landslides. Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured, the PMO said in a tweet.
