India has recorded 41,383 new COVID-19 cases, 38,652 recoveries, and 507 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry informed on Thursday. The total Covid-19 cases in India now stands at 3,12,57,720, while 3,04,29,339 persons have recovered from the disease the death toll is now 4,18,987. A total of 41,78,51,151 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered across the country till date. In Bengal, the death counts may have decreased but the number of COVID cases have increased on Wednesday. Whether future waves will affect children more or with increased severity are all speculations, said Dr Praveen Kumar, Director, Department of Pediatrics, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. “COVID vaccine for pregnant women and lactating mothers will protect the growing foetus and new-born against the deadly infection.” Mortality rate in children is lower as compared to adults and is usually seen in children with comorbidities, Dr Kumar said throwing light on several aspects of the topic, ‘COVID-19 and children’ |
