Kolkata: The newly appointed Trinamool Congress National General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, has said that the TMC has chalked out its plan for “national politics” and claimed that “the party will lay down its vision in the next one month”.
“We will take on the
BJP head-on when we foray into another state. We will go there to win the state
and not just a few seats,” Abhishek said on Monday.
Slamming the BJP
for its culture of dynastic politics, he urged the BJP to come out with a
policy of "one family-one member" in politics and said that he would resign
the same day.
“They (BJP) have the
numbers, why don’t they pass a bill allowing only one person from a family to
join politics. Pass the bill and I will be the first person to resign. Let them come out
with a policy and I will resign on the same day,” the TMC General Secretary said.
Reacting to the
“dynasty” jibe, he said that the “BJP is rattled with my appointment”. “Practise
what you preach. Can Jay Shah come out and give up his BCCI post?” he asked
adding, “Sometimes dynasty is better than being nasty!”
On being asked
whether the TMC will fight the election in Gujarat, he replied, “Till the time I can
work on the organisation which we are doing at present, I will keep all speculations
alive. Wherever we go, we will go to win the state.”
“I am not the second in command. The first and the only command of the TMC is
Mamata Banerjee, and thereafter the second in command is the entire party and
all the party workers,” he clarified.
During the assembly
poll campaigns, on several occasions, the PM Narendra Modi and the Union Home
Minister Amit Shah had attacked Banerjee on “dynastic politics”, claiming that Mamata Banerjee intends to make him the new Chief Minister.
