Kolkata: The West Bengal government has launched an app where people can check whether Covid medicines, oxygen and beds in hospitals are available or not.
“Apart from the
necessary information on the Covid-19 situation, free consultations from
doctors will also be available in this app,” sources in the West Bengal state
secretariat informed.
The West Bengal
Chief Secretary met the Union Health Secretary to discuss the current pandemic
situation in the state. Nabanna sources said, ways to get more people vaccinated
and other ways to break the pandemic chain were discussed in the meeting.
Vaccination centres
across the state saw huge queues outside booths since early morning. While some
got vaccinated a large number of people were seen returning home without the
second dose of vaccine.
Meanwhile, a
government hospital in South Kolkata was forced to stop admitting Covid
patients as it ran out of oxygen. A Covid positive patient was chased and caught
by firefighters while trying to run away
from the Covid ward in Calcutta Medical College. He has since been readmitted
to the hospital.
West Bengal has recorded
fresh 20,136 Covid-19 cases with 132 deaths in the last 24 hours.
