Kolkata: Refusing to accept the three months of extension offered to him by the West Bengal Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay has retired from his post. He will now serve Banerjee as her Chief Advisor for the next 3 years. Banerjee announced that WB Home Secretary HK Dwivedi has been appointed the new Chief Secretary while BP Gopalika has been made the new State Home Secretary.
A furious Mamata has slammed the Prime Minister’s
decision to recall Bandyopadhyay to New Delhi as “cruel”, and said "I will
not accept this unconstitutional decision. Alapan is an example of how a
bureaucrat can be victimized." She said that she will urge the entire opposition
to unite against the Centre’s dictatorial rule.
Meanwhile, sources say that the Union
Government is contemplating
strict action against Bandyopadhyay after he failed to report for Central duty. A
showcause notice is said to have already been issued to Bandyopadhyay after he
failed to report to Delhi.
