Kolkata: Calling the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a liar and an opportunist, the West Bengal Chief
Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday lashed out at him for not keeping his promises with regard to various central schemes in the country.
"I have great respect for the PM's chair, but I am sorry to say that Modi
is a big liar,” Mamata said.
Modi has not kept his promise of crediting Rs 15 lakh to everyone's bank
accounts. “What happened to his promise of crediting Rs 15 lakh to everyone's bank accounts? Why should the price of LPG cylinder
skyrocket to Rs 900? What will happen to the Ujjwala scheme?”
Banerjee wondered.
Taking a dig at the Prime Minister and Union Minister Amit Shah, Mamata asked
why both of them are keeping mum on the farmer's protests in New Delhi, which has been continuing for months.
The Trinamul Supremo also elaborated on how the Centre's 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme did not take off well in comparison with West Bengal government’s Kanyashree and other such schemes. “Modi always fails to keep his promises but I always deliver what I promise. The implementation of state government schemes like Kanyashree, Sabuj
Sathi and Swasthya Sathi have all been very successful. The Kanyashree scheme in particular has received much acclaim from the United Nations."
The Chief Minister questioned the Modi government for closing down and the
mergers of many PSUs. “Why are the PSUs being closed down, making lakhs of
people unemployed?” she asked adding that people don’t trust the saffron party anymore.
She also raised doubts that the BJP is making false promises to government employees to constitute the Seventh Pay Commission for
state government employees if voted to power in West Bengal. In its poll manifesto, the BJP hascpromisesld to implement the Seventh Pay Commission for the government employees which are all due for several years.
Amid the "insider vs outsider" debate in Bengal’s poll season Mamata Banerjee reiterated that the people sent from other states to create trouble before thr elections are outsiders.
These “paan chewing” and “gutka spitting” men from Uttar Pradesh and other North Indian states are the real outsiders she said. The West Bengal Chief Minister addressed three public
rallies in Bishnupur and Bankura.
