‘Textures & Tones’ - the joint art exhibition
by Dr. Sulochana Gawde and Dr. Harsh Thakker, opened on 4th November at the
Nehru Centre AC Art Gallery, Mumbai, and received an encouraging and warm
response from the art fraternity and visitors alike. The inaugural evening was
a buzzing one, attended by philanthropist and industrialist Dr. Aneel Kashi
Murarka, Founder - Ample Missiion; Sapna Khakharia - Principal Architect - The
Canvas; Deepan Gohil - Principal Architect - I and I Designs; Varsha Karale -
Chairperson of Arts Society of India, curator Satyendra Rane, veteran artist
Mohankumar Dodecha, and cabin crew trainer Sneh Dedhia, among other art
enthusiasts who came in to support the two artists and their creative journeys.
Staying true to the essence shared in the prelude
to the exhibition, the showcase beautifully reflected the distinct artistic
voices of both doctors, rooted in discipline, emotion, and years of
exploration. Dr. Gawde’s works, inspired by Indian heritage, folk motifs,
architecture and spiritual elements, drew viewers in with their layered
textures, vibrant tones, and meditative energy. In contrast yet in harmony, Dr.
Thakker’s canvases offered a serene pause through impressionist-contemporary
forms, celebrating nature, everyday moments, and the charm of heritage through
patiently layered oil textures and soothing palettes. Together, their artworks
created an immersive and complementary visual dialogue, a theme that many
visitors resonated with through their reflections and conversations at the
gallery.
The exhibition was on at the Nehru Centre AC Art
Gallery, Worli, until 10th November 2025, from 11 am to 7 pm.
