A heart-warming tale of a father-son relationship.

Rating: 3.5/5

Cast: Robert De Niro, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kim Cattrall, David Rasche, Leslie Bibb

Robert De Niro has carried some of the worst films on his back and has made them somewhat

interesting like Dirty Grandpa. While About My Father isn't that different from Dirty Grandpa, it has a few good supporting characters who help De Niro to carry the film forward.

A mixture of Dirty Grandpa and Meet the Fockers, minus the raunchiness, About My Father is an hour and 30 minutes of relaxation which you can enjoy with your parents.

Sebastian (Sebastian Maniscalco) is in love with his American girlfriend Ellie (Leslie Bibb) and wants to marry her. He informs his Italian immigrant hairdresser father Salvo (an outstanding Robert De Niro) and insists that he join them for a weekend with Ellie’s parents Bill & Tigger (brilliant David Rasche and Kim Cattrall). Chaos unfolds when the two cultures with zero common factors clash during the weekend.

It's surprising how actors at 60 or even 50 don't possess the energy that De Niro had at the age of 79. De Niro has still got that charm that he has had for the past 50 years. Sebastian Maniscalco has the same energy he possesses in his stand-ups and is pretty good as Sebastian.

There are a few handful moments of laugh-out-loud jokes that land perfectly. Kim Cattrall and David Rasche are perfect as the quirky parents and Brett Dier is perfect as their son.

About My Father is a film to watch to remember that your father was your first superhero.
