Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi will
be conferred with the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2026,
announced Padma Shri Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The honour will be presented as
part of the 84th death anniversary commemoration of Master Deenanath
Mangeshkar.
Organised by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti
Pratishthan and Hridayesh Arts, in association with Sakal Media Group, the
ceremony continues the legacy of one of India’s most revered cultural
institutions, honouring individuals who have made exceptional contributions to
the nation’s artistic and social fabric.
Positioned as a Bhav Gandharva tribute, the evening
reflects the enduring legacy of the Mangeshkar family — a lineage synonymous
with musical excellence across generations, from Lata Mangeshkar and Asha
Bhosle to contemporary torchbearers of Indian music.
This year’s awardees include Mahesh Kale for music,
Shama Bhate for dance, Subodh Bhave for theatre and cinema, Raveena Tandon and
Prajakta Mali for cinema, Sushil Kulkarni for journalism, Achyut Godbole for
literature, Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar with a Special Award, and Anand Bhagwat of
Vasundhara Sanjeevani Mandal, Thane for social service. The ‘Mohan Wagh Award
for Best Theatre Production’ will be presented to Jigisha Ashtavinayak’s play
Bhumika, starring Sachin Khedekar, with producers Dilip Jadhav and Shripad
Padmakar also being honoured.
The highlight of the evening will be the conferment
of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award (5th year) upon Kailash Satyarthi,
recognising his extraordinary global contribution towards child rights and
social justice.
The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award stands as a
symbol of national honour, celebrating individuals whose work creates a
profound and lasting impact.
Dr. Vishwanath Karad, Founder-President of MIT
World Peace University, Pune, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest. He is
widely respected for his vision of integrating science, spirituality and
value-based education.
The evening will feature a special musical
presentation titled “Mee Lata Dinanath…”, a curated tribute to the immortal
songs of Lata Mangeshkar, presented by Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
The programme will include performances by
Vibhavari Joshi, Madhura Datar, Savani Ravindra, Shreyasi Pavgi, Manisha
Nischal, Rutuja Tare and Dr. Unmesh Karmarkar.
The ceremony will be compered by Milind Kulkarni,
with Supriya Chitnis as the announcer.
The event will be held on Friday, 24 April 2026,
from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Ganesh Kala Krida Mandir, Swargate, Pune.
