"Hemantabar Chithi" is not just a documentary—it is a time
capsule. Transporting us to the early 1900s, the film traces the remarkable,
yet little-known, correspondence between Hemantabala Devi and Kabiguru
Rabindranath Tagore.
Moved by her emotional depth, spiritual clarity, and social insights,
Tagore responded with writing over 250 letters, building a rare friendship that
defined the last decade of his life. For Hemantabala, these exchanges were a
lifeline—a communion with her Thought Guru during the toughest phases of her
life.
Crafted with love and scholarship by her granddaughter Jayanti Sanyal in collaboration with Cinema for a Cause, the 49-minute Bengali documentary has been :Shot & Directed by Abhishek Ganguli the film is researched & scripted by Arundhati Chaudhuri and narrated by poet Fullora Mukhopadhyay.
