Veteran film director Ashoke Viswanathan comes up with this ‘big’ short film shot on anamorphic lens, giving the entire film a 70mm feel. Produced by Rituparna Sengupta’s production house Bhabna Aaj O Kaal, Ritupana stars as the leading lady, with the director of Alliance Francaise Nicolas Facino playing the male lead.
The film deals with reality, retrospectives, homages,
exhibitions, and photographic tributes to the Golden Age of Hollywood. It also
takes a subtle dig at film festivals, which have become a farce nowadays.
Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and Anusha Viswanathan make
special appearances in the film, which also features Iryna Vikyrchak, Solveig
Obertheiser, Julia Elisabeth Fruehauf, Anupriya Misra, Anshuman Gupta, Triparna
Ghosh, Kalyan Sircar, Antonio Mesas Gracias, and Rohan Dutta in the supporting
cast.
Set in a film festival in a Malaysian seaside city, 'Distances' revolves around the whirlwind romance that develops between Ileana (Rituparna), a well-known film director from Kolkata, and Victor (Nicholas), a young French actor, over three days. Can they give love a chance, or are the kindred spirits doomed to part forms the rest of the story?
The grand locales on which 'Distances' is shot can only be savoured if watched on the big screen.
Presented by Alliance Francaise Du Bengale, 'Distances' is slated for release soon.
