'Kooki', produced by Dr. Junmonii Devi Khaund, is based on the heinous crime of gang rape and is set to release in theatres on June 28. Kooki was earlier screened at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival.

The film’s team is actively promoting it through various media channels. Following a music launch in Mumbai and the release of an impactful trailer, the team has now arrived in Delhi for media promotion. Key figures such as producer Dr. Junmonii Devi Khaund, director Pranab J. Deka, actor Rajesh Tailang, and lead actress Ritisha Khaund were present.

Kooki is inspired by the true story of a minor girl who is a victim of gang rape. The film's subject matter is harrowing and has already stirred up significant reactions on social media with its trailer, leaving audiences deeply affected.

In this sensitive film, Ritisha Khaund plays the title role of Kooki, while Bigg Boss fame TV star Devoleena Bhattacharjee appears as a journalist. Ritisha Khaund shared that Priyanka Chopra is her favourite in Bollywood, and her journey has inspired her.

Reflecting on her experience playing Kooki, Ritisha mentioned that the role left her mentally disturbed. She sometimes struggled to differentiate between herself and her character, Kooki. She expressed that the mental agony she experienced was unforgettable but emphasized that the real-life pain and trauma faced by thousands of girls like Kooki in the country are far worse.

In one poignant scene, she questions, "Why isn't rape considered the most heinous crime? If I had been murdered, would that have been considered the worst crime?"

Producer Dr. Junmonii Devi Khaund aims to highlight through this film that while murder is seen as the most severe crime in the country, rape is equally grievous. Despite surviving, a rape victim suffers mentally and emotionally every moment of her life.

Produced under the banner of Niri Media OPC Private Limited, the film features lyrics by Avinash Chauhan, Ibson Lal Barua, and Dr. Sagar, with music by Pallab Talukdar, Saurav Mahant, and Tapan Jyoti Dutta. Singers like Sunidhi Chauhan, Divya Kumar, Mohammad Faiz, and Kritika Sharma have lent their voices to the soundtrack. In addition to Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Ritisha Khaund, the cast includes Reena Rani, Dipannita Sharma, Asha Chotani, Bandip Sharma, and Ujjal Barua. The film is being distributed by Jay Viratra Entertainment Limited.
