Prinseps presents a retrospective exhibition of pioneer Indian modernist Gobardhan Ash known for fearlessly exploring diverse artistic styles and techniques. The retrospective offers a glimpse into four decades of his artistic brilliance, from 1929 to 1969. Showcasing over 100 artworks, the exhibition features Ash's diverse creative range, including sketches, landscapes, self-portraits, portraits, rural Bengal scenes, the iconic Avatar Series from the late 1940s, vibrant pastels from his outdoor studies, and his Children Series capturing the myriad moods of children followed by a panel discussion on ‘Art Patronage and Collecting in Bengal’.
