Foreign artists drenched in devotion to Ram will be seen in the international "Ramayana" fair of Purana Qila. International Ramayana Fair organized by ICCR from January 18 to January 21 at Purana Qila on Mathura Road, which will be inaugurated by Art and Culture Minister Meenakshi Lekhi. In this International Ramayana Fair, apart from the programmes being held in the country and abroad, drenched in devotion to Ram, The upcoming Ramlilas will also be showcased. The entry of the people coming to the International Ramayana Fair which will run from 11 am to 7 pm will be free.
This time, Ramlila organized by Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and the Russian Federation will be displayed at the International Ramayana Fair. ICCR will present a multidisciplinary presentation based on the theme 'Connecting the World through the Ramayana Tradition'. Apart from the live ballet performance of Ramleela from seven countries, there will also be a stage for art and craft exhibitions in this four-day Ramayana Fair.
The first day's programme will begin with the inaugural performance by the Indian Ramayana Group, Varanasi, on the appropriate theme of 'Ram Ki Shakti Puja' directed by Varanasi theater director-cum-poet Byomkesh Shukla. This unique performance features women in Lord Rama and Lakshmana roles, which is completely different from the usual living heritage. The event will be followed by a performance of Ramayana by Thailand's Khon dance troupe, depicting the scene surrounding the abduction of Sita by Ravana.
The next evening's performance by Lalit Kala Mandir of Malaysia will showcase the richness of Indian dance forms in their Ramayana material. The evening will feature a performance by the Royal Ballet Troupe of Laos, Luang Prabang, titled 'Phra-Lak Phra-Lam', based on the theme of 'The Golden Deer and the Abduction of Sita'. It will see renowned actors playing the lead roles of Ram, Lakshman, Sita, and Ravana as well as Jatayu (Satayu) and Hanuman, with attractive costume designing, musical accompaniment, and a fast-paced script.
The next day there will be a dance by the famous Kathak dance exponent Pt. Anuj Mishra based on Ramcharitmanas written by Tulsidas. The grand finale of the event will be a dance performance on the theme 'Sita Uvacha' by renowned Mohiniyattam dance exponent Jayaprabha Menon, who is known for bringing her unique aesthetics to the chosen theme.
