Play On & Omkarnath Mission Parampara in association with Sutanuti Parishad is presenting Guru Shishya Parampara on February 4 at Sobhabazar Rajbari Natmandir. Santoor legend Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Vidushi Madhumita Roy and Anindya Mitra of Sutanuti Parishad were among the stalwarts who addressed the press at the Press Club on Tuesday to announce the details of the Guru Shishya Parampara Series.

The concert will be based on the performances of Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Vidushi Madhumita Roy along with their senior disciples Chiradip Sarkar (Santoor) and Suprava Mukherjee (Kathak). The students of Kathakangik and Santoor Ashram (Asesh Basu, Chandan Chatterjee, Ayush Lala, Mayukh Das, Abhigyan Datta) will also be participating in the concert to showcase their talent. The cultural event will start with the Guru Vandana followed by a musical ensemble, kathak performances, and jugalbandis of leading music stalwarts and their disciples.

This concert is mainly aimed at promoting the Guru Shishya Parampara an age-old tradition of passing knowledge from the gurus to their disciples. For this, the gurus felt the need to hold workshops and give scholarships to the students so that they could concentrate on honing their skills in music or dance.
