Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, ace composers like Debojyoti Mishra and Joy Sarkar were present at Chapter 2 on May 26 to bless and launch the musical memoir, Yaadein, a Hindi song composed by santoor exponent Chiradip Sarkar and sung by talented singer Jamuna Kumari Damai.

Chiradip had his inception into the world of music as a toddler taking ‘taalim’ in Tabla from his father and first mentor late Pandit Chandi Das Sarkar. He went to become an established santoor player under the tutelage of santoor legend Pandit Tarun Bhattacharyya.

Inspired by the creations of his guru, Chiradip cherished a dream to venture into music direction, composition and music arrangements to give birth to a lyrical piece of his own. After performing in several countries as a santoor player and listening to musical pieces, Chiradip took up the task of creating Yaadein.

His lyrics and melody with a tone of melancholy become alive with the vocals of talented singer Jamuna Kumari Damai. Originally from Nepal, Jamuna works in the railways but has kept her passion for music and singing alive.

Yaadein is a true love song wrapped in tragedy, loss and sadness. Along with the use of classical instruments like flute, santoor, violin, tabla, Chiradip also went de novo for the music arrangement part. This particular song combines a few eminent musicians like Soumyajyoti Ghosh on glute, Indradeep Ghosh on violin, Tuhin Karmakar on tabla, Avik Ganguly on piano programming and arrangement with Chiradip himself on santoor. "It's really a blessed moment that such musical geniuses appreciated our music and graced our release function."

A picturesque video shot in Shillong featuring PG students as the lead pair and Jamuna herself too was screened on the occasion.
