'Minority Diary' is a socio-economic study on the four minority communities - Christians, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists within the geographical boundaries of West Bengal. The documentary film portrays the history, life, and struggle of the common man in today’s society.

Each community though different from the others in all perspectives is seen to be converging on a common aspect of being Bengali at the end with their language, food habits, and dress sense.

The film also showcases the contribution each community has made towards society as a whole, thus concluding on the fact of unity in diversity.

The shooting has been done in four parts, covering almost all districts of west Bengal to reveal the similarity among the people in the diversified landscape.

The pre-production of the film started in January 2020. After extensive research work, the film went on the floors.

Principal photography began in September 2021 in the Nadia district. The first schedule covered the Christian community. The film crew travelled to north Bengal and through the cities of central Bengal to capture the essence of their lives. The second phase captured the lives and the livelihood of the Sikh community.

The third phase was shot in Murshidabad, Kolkata, and its outer cities covering the Jain community. The last phase of the film covered the Buddhist community.  This phase covered areas of North Bengal and Kolkata.

The director Indranil Sarkar while talking about shooting 'Minority Diary' said, “It was a journey among the changing landscape where I met different people from different parts of society but the common factor was the warm welcome which I will deeply treasure throughout my life. I realized that people, places or religions might be different but unconditional love is the biggest force that binds us all.

The film is produced by Subhashish Ganguly and Jayashree Ganguly under the banner of Half Moon Entertainment. It is set to hit the screens in April-May next year.
