“Bangaliana’ will be celebrated now at Behala as well with Uttam Kumar- Suchitra Sen’s magic with Saptapadi. The fourth outlet of the celebrated chain of restaurants serving known for its authentic Bengali cuisine, Saptapadi opened its doors to gourmets in Behala in the last week of March. It has now come up with a specially curated cuisine for the Bengali New Year just a few days away. The special Poila Baisakh menu will be available from April 14 to 17.


The new outlet is one of many firsts. Apart from posters and stills from Uttam-Suchitra starrers, an entire wall has been devoted to Patachitra with artists from Pingla having taken 28 days to make the colourful mural.

The restaurant itself is going to serve up not just thalis but also have a buffet option not there in its other outlets. Another USP is the live barbeque counter which will be available all through the day for customers keen on grilled items.

The menu itself includes some unique signature dishes like betki lanka fritters, chingri posto piyaji chire and chapta murgi in the starters and ghoti garam, bagan masala murgi, bhekti Madhuri among others to tempt the palate. In dessert the lichu lankar payesh is lip smacking.

While the Poila Baisakh Supper Buffet is for Rs 999, the thali is priced at Rs 899.

Ranjan Biswas, chef and owner, Saptapadi says, “I was very keen to serve my signature dishes to other parts of south Kolkata, especially the huge Bengali population in Behala. This prime location should bring in the crowds. Next I plan to take Saptapadi to Mumbai, Bangalore and the London. It’s my endeavour to serve the best in Bengali cuisine at prices that suit the pocket,” he added.

Its other three outlets at Jadavpur, Purna Das Road and Salt Lake too have geared up with special menus for the festive occasion.
