West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on Friday. The BJP announced the name of advocate Priyanka Tibrewal against Banerjee from the Bhawanipore constituency.
Trinamool Minister
Firhad Hakim said, "People are waiting for September 30 when they can cast
their votes and make Mamata Banerjee victorious."
Priyanka said that
Bhawanipore is her home seat as she was born in the area. “I have been facing a
high voltage fight for the last four months in the post-poll violence case. I
am not worried that I lost the Entally seat but I am more concerned in bringing
justice to people. I am here to work for the people,” she said.
The BJP IT cell head Amit
Malviya said this bypoll was not to elect an MLA but to save
Bengal. "The Bhawanipore by-poll is not a contest to elect an MLA but to save
Bengal from the tyranny of an unelected CM, who has presided over the worst
post-poll violence in independent India, allowing lumpen elements in her party
to murder and rape fellow Bengalis. Pishi must be defeated,” read a tweet by
the politician.
Priyanka is an advocate in Calcutta High Court and is one of the lead petitioners of the post-poll violence in West Bengal in which the HC had instructed a CBI probe. Priyanka joined the BJP in 2014 and in 2020 she became the vice-president of the West Bengal BJP unit.
