Singur & Domjur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday predicted the saffron party’s win in both the Singur and Nandigram seats.

“There is a wave of change everywhere in Bengal and it has touched Singur as well. We will be victorious in both Singur and Nandigram with a huge margin. The way Mamata Banerjee is behaving is nothing but an expression of her frustration which is reflected in her speeches and her behaviour,” Shah said in a roadshow in Singur.

He also participated in roadshows in three other constituencies in Domjur, Howrah Central and Behala. All these constituencies will be going to the polls on April 10.

Shah said, “I’m confident that Rajib Banerjee will win with a majority from Domjur. I have full faith in him. The sheer excitement of the people shows that the BJP will form the next government here with over 200 seats on May 2.”

The Union Home Minister's roadshow on Wednesday in Singur drew huge crowds. The BJP’s candidate and turncoat sitting TMC MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharya is fighting TMC minister Becharam Manna in Singur constituency. Both the leaders are products of the Singur movement and close aides of Mamata Banerjee.

The Nandigram seat witnessed high-voltage fight between the Bengal CM and former TMC heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari.

Meanwhile, slamming the CRPF again from a rally in North Bengal’s Coochbehar, Mamata said, “We want free and fair polls and people should be allowed to cast their votes. The CRPF shouldn’t stop the voters from entering the polling centres. I respect the CRPF who are real jawans but not the BJP’s CRPF who are creating so much nuisance in the state, attacking women and harassing the voters,” she said.

Mamata also accused the “state police of changing sides and supporting the BJP during elections.” Naming the Arambagh Officer-in-Charge of Police, Mamata threatened the state police, “I know the state police personnel are supporting them. (read BJP). I have noticed the Arambagh OC’s role in the third phase of polls.”
