Kolkata: With Poila Baisakh just round the corner, it’s that time of the year to dig into the deliciously alluring dishes which Bengali specialty restaurant Saptapadi has come up with as part of its special menu. The delicacies will delight foodies from April 14 to 18 at all the three city outlets of the restaurant at Purna Das Road, Salt Lake and Bagha Jatin.
Celebrating Bangaliana in its full form, the platter includes rice,
pulao, aloo fry, til posto vetki, badshahi murg bora, manohora dal, chitol
macher muitha, mutton, chingri malai curry, vetki paturi, salad, chatni, papad
and lichu lonka payesh for dessert in its special thali for the Bengali New
Year. An illish thali too is there to tempt the tastebuds.
“Serving my city’s glorious cuisines to our diners taught me that there
is a bit of Kolkata in everyone. Everyone wants to be a bit traditional during
this time of the year be it in attire or food,” said chef Ranjan Biswas, owner,
Saptapadi.
The menu card too is unique, taking the foodies back to the olden days
when elaborate rolled up invitation cards were sent to guests. “My menu card
has the names of all the dishes on offer in the form of a Bengali poem,” Biswas
said.
All the food will be served in disposal
cutlery at our cost keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocols he informed, saying
the people’s love for his food has not been affected by the pandemic. “There
has been a steady stream of visitors to our restaurants and I am now thinking
of opening another outlet in Behala,” smiled Biswas.
