Kolkata: Suranjan Dey may be a journalist by profession but he still manages to find time for his passion, filmmaking. He has managed to make two short films in the past one year. One is 'Unlucky Shirt', while the other is Phaand.

'Unluck Shirt’ revolves round two lovers who used to talk on the telephone. They would have arguments, debates and difference of opinion yet their love stayed strong. However, once the lockdown is over the girlfriend urgently wants to meet her boyfriend. The shirt the boyfriend is wearing during the meeting becomes the climax of the film. The film stars Suparna Kumar, Riddhiban Bandyopadhyay, Dr. Bhanu Bhushan Khatua, Tuhin Shankar Pal, Nilimesh Ghosh Dastidar, Kank Ghosh Dastidar, Ashish Ghosh and the director Suranjan Dey himself. A Rabindra Sangeet has been used in this film. The song is sung by Suparna Kumar. Shot in and around Kolkata and the IIT Kharagpur campus the film also features a Rabindra Sangeet sung by Suparna Kumar.

 'Phand' based on Biplab Majumdar's story 'Andhokarer Oboyab', is a story of three generations and revolves round a young and ambitious girl who can go to any lengths to fulfil her dreams of a successful career. One drastic step however, changes her entire life forever.

The screenplay and dialogues are by Indrani Mukhopadhyay and Sayon Ghatak Mukhopadhyay. The film stars Suparna Kumar, Indrarup Bhattacharya and Biplab Majumdar.

Suranjan's who has earlier made 'Bhalobasar Chupkatha' and 'Be Careful', is hopeful of 'Unlucky Shirt' and 'Phand', being well received at international film festivals.
