The 10-day Swami Vivekananda International Film Festival (SVIFF), organized by the Vivekananda Brotherhood & Youth Foundation, concluded successfully with a grand award-distribution ceremony at the iLEAD auditorium in Kolkata. The most anticipated highlight of the closing day's star-studded event was the presentation of prestigious special honours to veteran artists. In this year's edition, eminent actress and dancer Mamata Shankar was honoured with the Dhirendranath Ganguly Lifetime Achievement Award, and veteran film director Biresh Chatterjee was bestowed with the Hiralal Sen Award.
The grand finale witnessed the presence of Swami Supparananda Maharaj (President of Ramkrishna Math and Mission, Balaram Mandir), Anjan Basu (Head of Aurora Film Corporation), Pradip Chopra (Head of iLEAD and Mentor of SVIFF), Dr. Pavitra Sarkar (eminent literary critic and former Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Tarit Kumar Dutta (Chairman of Vedanta Society of India), Dr. Pankaj Roy (former Principal of Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College), along with numerous filmmakers, actors, and dignitaries from across the country and abroad.
During the closing ceremony, distinguished guests praised the massive success and vision of the festival. Swami Supparananda Maharaj stated that a film festival named after Swami Vivekananda will undoubtedly inspire the younger generation in filmmaking while strengthening their faith in Swami Vivekananda's ideals. Anjan Basu praised the sincere efforts of festival mastermind Pallab Roy, noting that successfully organizing the festival across 18 locations simultaneously is a monumental achievement, and he expressed hope that it will expand globally in the near future. Dr. Pavitra Sarkar urged that such quality film festivals be spread wider among the masses. In his address, Festival Director Pallab Roy mentioned that plans are underway to simultaneously host this festival in countries like America, লন্ডন, Canada, Malta, and Bangladesh in the coming days.
