Malayalam cinema’s most talked-about antagonists in
Marco, actor Kabir Duhan Singh has quietly built an impressive filmography
spanning over 80 films across seven languages. He is currently garnering praise
for his villainous role in Kattalan, starring Antony Varghese in the lead.
At the Mumbai premiere of Kattalan, which was also
attended by Parth Tiwari, Harishankar Narayanan, and Raj Tirandasu, Kabir
opened up about his experience working on the film, the intense action
sequences, and the scale of the project.
Speaking about the film’s scale, action, and the
effort that went into making it, Kabir Duhan Singh said, “Malayalam cinema has
mastered the art of delivering high-quality films on limited budgets, and
Kattalan is a great example of that. We truly gave our blood and sweat to this
film, and I believe that effort is visible on screen. Whether it’s my
performance, Parth’s, or Antony’s, this film stands apart in all our careers.
We all got injured while shooting the action sequences, but when you put that level
of commitment into a project, you hope audiences appreciate it. Thankfully,
that appreciation has come.”
Speaking about producer Shareef Muhammed, Kabir
added, “Sharif Bhai is like family to me, and this is my second film with him.
What I truly admire about him is the kind of trust he places in his directors.
He gives complete creative freedom, and I genuinely believe that when a
producer trusts a filmmaker’s vision wholeheartedly, good cinema happens.
You’ve already seen what happened with Marco — it became a massive hit, and
that comes from trust, belief, and vision. As actors and filmmakers, we always
want to stand strong beside producers who genuinely believe in cinema and back
creative ideas. Working with Sharif Bhai never feels transactional; it feels
like working with family, and that comfort brings out the best in everyone
involved.”
The film also stars Tamil actor Dushara Vijayan,
who is making her Malayalam debut with Kattalan. The ensemble cast further
includes Sunil, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Baby Jean, Hipster, and Hanan
Shaah.
Produced by Shareef Muhammed under the banner of
Cubes Entertainments, the makers of Marco, Kattalan features music by B.
Ajaneesh Loknath and Ravi Basrur, cinematography by Renadive, editing by
Shameer Muhammed, and action choreography by internationally acclaimed stunt
director Kecha Khamphakdee.
Directed by Paul George, the action thriller is
currently running in theatres.
