A Cinema for a Cause Originals production, Monster is not just a film—it’s a gut-wrenching reality. Shot and directed by Abhishek Ganguli, this hard-hitting independent film unravels the dark, uncomfortable, and painful world of Child Sexual Abuse & Paedophilia—a subject often silenced, ignored, or hidden behind closed doors.
A
Story That Must Be Told
Through the
eyes of Ishan, the film traces the trauma, scars, and resilience of a child
fighting unseen battles in the shadows. With a gripping script by Priyanka Kar,
Monster sheds light on the horrifying truth of abuse that lurks within trusted
walls and familiar faces.
A
Survivor’s Journey
As Ishan
grows—from a terrified child (Likhon Roy) to a troubled teenager (Ivaan
Chakrabarty)—the film delves deep into the psychological and emotional turmoil
that follows. With powerful performances by Dr. Piyasi Singha Roy as Ishan’s
mother Srimoti, Priyanka Kar as Srimoni(Ishan’s Aunt), Abhishek Ganguli as Dr.
Moitra, and Ashish Chakraborty as the monster, the story confronts society’s
deafening silence.
A
Technically Brilliant Execution
With
haunting cinematography and drone visuals captured by a skilled crew—Bapi
Samanta, Santu Bera, Soumya Bhattacharya, and Snehojit Adak—every frame is
crafted to evoke emotions. Under the mentorship of Arundhati Chaudhuri, the
performances carry raw authenticity, making the film a deeply immersive
experience.
Mental
Health Matters
To ensure
that the portrayal of trauma is both sensitive and realistic, mental health
advisor Ria Batavyal lent her expertise to the project, adding depth to the
narrative.
The
Soulful Cry of Music
The film’s
theme song, “Stand by me”, composed by Ahir Bowmik with accompaniment by
Sabyasachi Dasgupta, adds a voice to the silent suffering—turning pain into
poetry, scars into survival.
A
Collective Effort for Change
From the
artistic vision of a Team of graphic designers , to the razor-sharp editing by
Shantanu Barman, every aspect of Monster has been meticulously crafted to leave
a lasting impact.
A Call
to Action
This isn’t
just a film. It’s a movement. A mirror to society. A wake-up call to speak up,
stand by survivors, and break the cycle of abuse.
Created by
Learning System, Monster dares to enter the darkness so that others don’t
have to. Team Monster shares sentiments that consolidated the TEAM's voice to create awareness against child sexual abuse in the Film. Thanks मनोscope and Rotary Club of Calcutta North East, for giving Cinema For A Cause a well-curated platform like "Breaking The Silence," where the deliberations revolved around POCSO. A big thanks to media friends from Kolkata Konnect and Lifeplus Enterprises.
