Gore and too much gore

Cast: Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malavika Mohanan, Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, Raj Aryan, Raghav Juyal, Shilpa Shukla

Rating: 2.75*

Action films with gore and blood are in it seems. The recently released 'Kill' had more than ample dosage of blood and gore and lots of 'kills' and 'Yudhra' follows the same pattern. Director Ravi Udyawar has left no stone unturned with his precise execution of the action scenes. A scene that stands out is the music shop mayhem in Portugal which is simply a delight to watch for the action fans. The action scenes lift the otherwise routine and predictable storyline by Sridhar Raghavan. We are sure Raghavan can do much better than this pedestrian stuff. Siddhant Chaturvedi also shines in the action scenes, especially in the scenes where he fights multiple goons and dances effortlessly. He gives his best shot. But in the middle of the film, one can fathom the twist which will happen towards the end.

The doctors save the child of the honest police officer Girish Dixit and his wife Prerna who are killed by the drug mafia when Dixit busts their operation. The child is adopted by Girish's colleague Kartik Rathore (a fair Gajraj Rao) and named Yudhra (Siddhant Chaturvedi) who turns out to be a very angry young man. He has only one friend since childhood, Nikhat (a beautiful and stunning Malavika Mohanan), the daughter of Rehman (a good Ram Kapoor) who is also a close friend of Dixit and Rathore. Since Yudhra is like a rebel without a cause, Rehman suggests that the former be inducted into NCTA (National Cadet Training Academy) so that later he can serve the country. But Yudhra gets into a serious problem in the academy and is court-martialled and sent to prison for 9 years. Here when Rehman comes to meet him, Yudhra gets to know about the truth of his parents' death. They now plan to infiltrate the drug mafia group and befriend the number two drug lord Feroz (an over-the-top Raj Arjun) and his son Shafiq (a terrific Raghav Juyal again after 'Kill').

The elimination of the main drug lord Sikander is quite funny and is made to look so easy that it is hard to digest. The climax is also flat and very predictable.

A film meant for only hardcore gore fans.
