Director Amar Kaushik holds the reins and comes up trumps with the second edition of 'Stree'. Not only does he take the horror comedy forward, but also laces the film with dollops of humour and connects 'Stree' with 'Bhediya' thus creating a horror-comedy universe. And all of this he does effortlessly! Plus the performances are too good.
The peaceful life of Chanderi village is shaken up by a headless monster as 'smart' girls from the village keep disappearing. It is the 'sarkata' who takes them with him. Meanwhile 'Chanderi Ka Rakshak' Vicky (a wonderful Rajkumarr Rao) is still yearning and waiting for his mysterious love interest (an excellent Shraddha Kapoor despite having less screen time) and does not heed the advice of moving on, given by his friends Rudra (a brilliant Pankaj Tripathi) and Bittu (a very good Aparshakti Khurana) who himself is in love with a girl named Chitti (Anya Singh). She also disappears mysteriously and is witnessed by a 'junkie' who informs the villagers that he had seen a headless man taking Chitti. Thinking it to be 'Stree' who is behind these disappearances, Vicky, Rudra, and Bittu go to Delhi to bring their other friend Jaana (an outstanding Abhishek Banerjee) to help them locate 'Stree'. But all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Vicky's love interest appears, informs them about 'Sarkata' and his evil plans and the connection with 'Stree', and asks them for their help in defeating the monster.
There are some rocking cameos- Akshay Kumar in a 'killer' appearance, Varun Dhawan in a 'howling' appearance, and Tamannah Bhatia (as Shama) in a 'sizzling' appearance who all bring the house down. And no they are not forcefully added as they all are an integral part of the story. Sachin-Jigar's music is already making waves with chartbuster songs like 'Aaj Ki Raat' and 'Khoobsurat'. Also, do not miss the two end credit songs, a first.
Stree 2 is full
paisa-vasool entertainment packed with high doses of horror and comedy.
