Cinema for a Cause and "Anandam - the Rejuvenators" hosted a unique and impactful event at the ACES Seminar Hall in Kolkata on the evening of August 24 seamlessly blending artistic excellence with a poignant social message. Ten exceptional photographers were felicitated along with addressing pressing societal issues through the powerful medium of film.

The photographers were handed over certificates of excellence by an esteemed panel of judges, including Canon mentor and eminent professional photographer Partha Biswas, along with passion photographer-mentor Gautam Bhattacharya. The third judge, fashion photographer Sanhita Bhaumik, was out of station so could not attend but was acknowledged in her absence.

This was followed by the screening of a gripping short film, "Apna Time Kab Ayegaa? Good Times... Eutopia or Illusion?" Directed by Abhishek Ganguli and created under the Cinema for a Cause initiative by Learning System, the film delivered a powerful message to the 45-member audience. It explored the dark realities of youth depression, unemployment, and the perilous traps of black magic and dubious astrology, urging viewers to take action against these societal ills.

After the screening, the film’s cast and crew were felicitated by actor Grindelia Bhattacharya and eminent psychologist Dr. Rupa Talukdar. Dr. Talukdar, along with her team, conducted an enlightening session on mental health, drawing parallels to the themes explored in the film. Their discussion underscored the importance of mental health awareness, particularly in the context of the challenges faced by today’s youth. The event also saw the presence of noted filmmaker Sanjay Mishra of Sanjay Mishra Films.

"Apna Time Kab Ayegaa? Good Times... Eutopia or Illusion?" revolves around an unemployed youth’s blind faith in astrologers and soothsayers. Unable to bag a job despite being a class topper and highly educated the youth falls prey to the world of black magic with tragic consequences. The film warns against such societal ills which threaten to destroy the social and mental fabric of society
